The Duke Ellington School of the Arts

The Duke Ellington School of the Arts located in Washington, it is a high school, which is dedicated to the education in arts. It is named after the American jazz bandleader and a great composer Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington.

What is so extra-ordinary over The Duke Ellington School of the Arts that is the fact that the graduates receive not only artistic diploma after the garduation, but also academic one. The following artistic areas are presented at the attention of the students choose from: dance, museums study, literary media, instrumental music, vocal music, visual arts, and theatre.

The school was founded by the Peggy Cooper Cafritz who is the member of the D.C. School board and Mike Malone, who is a famous classical dancer.

The Duke Ellington School of the Arts is worldwide famous for its    Show Choir. The Choir has won many awards and its tour is always full of surprises for the spectators.

The procedure of the application into The Duke Ellington School of the Arts is not simple at all. One should fill in the admission application, then one has to pass through the audition before a panel, present his or her academic and attendance records, provide two letters of recommendations and to pass the interview.
